Benchmark v0.6.0 · Seven free models on Nous Portal

Can a free model run your personal staff?

This report covers one pool of models: Nous Portal free models, benchmark v0.6.0. We ran 7 of them on the 18 tasks behind StaffBench's 9 roles, three runs each, every answer checked automatically. The most reliable passed 12 of 18 tasks on every run.

The standings

A full pass means the answer passed every automatic check with no serious mistake. The bars show how far each score could move with a different draw of tasks. With 18 tasks, that is a lot.

Where they pass and where they fail

Each square is one model on one task. The dots are its three runs. Read across for a model, down for a task. Every task was passed at least once by some model.

Full passes out of 3 runs for every model and task. Rows are ranked by overall pass rate.

Once is luck. Every time is reliable.

An agent runs the same kind of job again and again, so a model that passes only sometimes is hard to trust. This counts tasks a model passed on every run against tasks it passed at least once.

Speed against score

Up is better, left is faster. The line joins models that no faster model beats on score. Beam 1.0 501B is alone on it: no model is both faster and better.

The best model for each role

Each role has two tasks, so each bar rests on just six runs. Treat these as leads to check, not settings to apply. Every role has a full brief: what it gets, what it must return, and the traps it sets.

Models with a catch

  • Benchmark v0.6.0 shows every model the required answer format alongside the task. Report 01 used v0.5.0 without that format, so its scores are not directly comparable.
  • The saved answers from 23 Oct 2026 were scored again after correcting weekly-distance rounding and missed word forms. No models were called again, and the original inputs, answers and timing measurements were kept unchanged.
  • The test setup is the same as Report 01, including medium reasoning, with tools, memory and automatic switching to another model turned off.
  • MissingNo and Step 5 Preview were no longer free on 23 Oct 2026 and are not in this report.
  • Laguna S 2.1 and Laguna XS 2.1 are free until 31 Oct 2026.
  • Step 3.7 Flash has strict usage limits.

How this was measured

Every model got the same tasks, the same test setup and the medium reasoning setting. Test setup: Hermes Agent, with tools, memory and automatic switching to another model turned off. Models ran on 23 Oct 2026.

  1. 378runs attempted (7 models × 18 tasks × 3)
  2. 363answers in exactly the right format
  3. 1small format slips, scored on content
  4. 14unreadable answers, counted as fails
  5. 0runs left out (no answer, or missing a checked part)
  6. 274runs that passed in full
